Less is more: something under or around
1000 words fits perfectly with our requirements and is almost
always enough to put across your message or tale.
Be specific: by this we mean that our
audience would much rather read an article about, “ The
best sea food restaurant in Bangkok” than one about, “
Restaurants in Thailand”
Stick to the active voice: “Monks hid
the scrolls for generations” really does read much better
than, “The scrolls were hidden for generations by monks”
Details: Details are great. If you could tell
us exactly where you ate that mouth-watering bowl of Phoo, Bar
mee, Pancit Canton or whatever, then others can go and catch amoebic
dysentery at exactly the same place.
Photos: A picture tells a thousand words,
the camera never lies, etc. I’m sure you get the picture
(please don’t include puns as bad as that in your article).
On a more serious note though, high quality color photos are what
we are looking for as they add true vibrancy and life to an article.
Most articles are much better for them. Please send in JPG or
GIF format if possible.
When you submit: Please click
here to submit your article (you can cut and paste from word
if you like.) Please note: If you have any photos
to submit, you'll have to send them separately to hotels_in_asia[at]yahoo.com.
We are at this time, unfortunately, unable to offer remuneration
for any work you send us. (This may change soon) However you will
of course retain all rights to your piece and we will make sure
everyone knows who wrote it!
If you are considering a career in freelance / travel writing then
having published material to cite in future query letters is priceless.
We would also be happy to post a link to your website.
Include any personal details you would like us to attach to your
article and as long as they are not abusive or libelous we’ll
be happy to tell our readers all about you.
