With the Philippines being spread out as it is over thousands of
islands travel-time can really eat into your holiday so I'd recommend
concentrating on just one area. How about the area around the town
of Dumaguete in the Visayas region? You could use Dumaguete as your
base and from there you can visit Siquijor and Apo island, go trekking
on Mt. Talinis, and whale-watching of Bais. I thought Siquijor was
An absolutely beautiful island, and the spooky folklore gives it
added interest. Try and visit during a full moon...if you dare!
And the snorkeling in Apo's Marine Reserve is absolutely the business.
Dumaguetes not to far from Cebu so if you have time you could also
visit Bohol with it's famous chocolate hills as well as Malapascua
and Bantayan, two more idyllic islands. If its one thing the Philippines
does well its pretty islands and beaches! Its certainly not food…..
