The Saxophone in Victory monument is pretty cool with good live
jazz and blues and a healthy mix of Thais, ex-pats and tourists.
You could also check out (transliterated as best I can) Barn my
dang,-the red wood house-on thanon (road) Wippahwadi just next to
soi (street) Chokechai Ruammit, which is also called Wippawadi 16
(sip-hok) for some folk/rock music. I saw Carabao there, pretty
much Thailand's equivalent to Bob Dylan-great night. Also Soi Sarison
next to Lumpini Park has some good, if smallish bars, mainly live
jazz. If you want something a bit more dancy/ house then Lucifers
was the in place when I left the city a year ago. It's in Patpong
but is not seedy, in fact if you're not one of the young beautiful
people with designer threads you might feel a bit out of place!
It does have good music and good vibes though if that's your thang....
