Answer
: The easiest, most comfortable way (but not the cheapest...something
around 300 baht-hardly a fortune) to get to Banglampoo (and to and
from most other places come to that) from Bangkok
airport is by taxi. It sometimes seems that there are more taxis
than people in the city (except when it's raining!) so don't even
bother haggling over a price. Tell them to use the meter. If you
get the "meter broken" etc. response or an attempt at
another price, just walk to the next taxi which will be about 3
paces away. Might have to do this once or twice but by this time
other taxis waiting have seen you walk away, know the score and
won't p*** around.
Another method, while hardly original I know but effective nevertheless,
is to go up or down, I forget which, to departures and get a taxi
from there. These guys have just dropped someone off and are usually
much less likely to muck around with prices as they're just happy
to pick someone up so quickly.
While I'm on the subject I might as well continue to say that I've
found if you want to get somewhere quickly, pick the youngest guy
with the most tattoos you can find. If you prefer a more sedate
and safe ride, Granddad's your man!(Same is doubly true with motorbike
taxis and could save your life) Also, with the plethora of taxis
around, why not pick the nicest one you can see. They don't cost
anymore than the one's with no seatbelts / aircon and ratty seats. |
