Answer :Even
if you're traveling at peak tourist times, you'll usually be alright
with accommodation. It's the Thai public holidays you've got to
watch out for, such as Songkhran, New year etc (I think it is true
to say that Thailand has the most public holidays of any country
in Asia!) Alright as in you'll find a bed for the night. I've done
a far bit of traveling around the Kingdom and apart from Thai public
holidays have never had too much trouble finding a place to stay.
That said however, you might want to consider booking hotels in
advance if you have any plans as to where you will be staying. It
can be a hassle rolling into town tired from a 5 hour (or whatever)
bus ride and spending another hour taking taxis, motorbikes or rickshaws
around the place when all you really want to do is rest your weary
head. Booking ahead will also mean that you can get that place right
on the very beach you want to stay at, or in the hotel that your
friend recommended. This is obviously doubly true in popular tourists
spots such as Samui, Samet, Krabi etc.
So, in a nutshell, during tourist season you
may have to do some legwork unless you pre-book but as long as its
not a Thai public holiday I don't think you'll ever be roofless
for the night.
