Vietnam Travel Tip: From Hanoi's Noibai Intl. airport to the train station

Question: I have two hours from when my plane lands in Hanoi to get to the train station. Will I make it?

Answer :Hanoi Airport (Noi Bai) is someway out of Hanoi and even late at night when the traffic is quiet it'll probably take you about an hour to get to the Train Station, which is in Hanoi proper. Add to this what I have found, on the three occasions I've flown into Hanoi (from abroad though-not internal) to be painfully slow luggage collection, passport control etc I'd give odds that you wouldn't make it (And will if you're a betting man!). I suppose that if it is an internal flight you don't have to do the passport thing....but still my advice would be to chill out and spend a night in Hanoi and get the train the next day. A day or two in the capital wouldn't necessarily be wasted time. It's a nice little town (city if you come from the country) and you'll find there's plenty to do and see. If you're not really a sightseeing kind of guy/gal then at the very least you can spend some time with a few cool beers next to one of our many lakes.
